Horse Sense....

Ok, so my new plan is to find out how to get a hot water shower running downstairs from my tub to outside, so I can wash the mini's without giving them pneumonia.

That's as far as I've got.

****

Ok, so it's been a bit crazy here.

I bought a connection/hose for my tub and now I am just waiting for it to stop being freezing and pelting down with rain to hot wash the mini's.  I can't wait to see how Suzie Q loves it.

And...

Moi is the proud owner of one racehorse.

Missy has been given to me because she has not won or placed in the last few races.  In fact, she has been in the first two winning and then stops, which as you can understand is not perfect.  So, she either has a physical issue and is unable to win or an emotional issue and doesn't want to win.

I know.  Wow.

However, we have a plan.

She's taking 3 months off, we are going to look at bloods, see about x-rays and then go back to basics.

Absolute basics.

This is what I love doing most of all though.  The horse/human door is open and now we will start our journey.  She will tell me what works, and hopefully most of the time I'll get it right.  Remind me of this, because on the days I don't, it gets a bit scary.

If it is physical issue though then she will be put to stud because she has pretty amazing genes, and if it is emotional then we'll deal with it and then re-try her racing.

Either/or it's an awesome opportunity and I can't wait.

I have tingly hands.

I did not buy an electric blanket on the drive back and had even put it out of my mind, until I went to the supermarket the next day.  They had a Queen Size, woolly electric blanket on sale, for $70.

I'm now the proud owner of one hot bed.

So, that's been our week:

New doors have opened, new opportunities were offered, and taken up, and we're all ready to rock and roll.

And I'm pretty sure I heard Spirit say, Wait! We just want to make a cup of tea before you start...

Wishing you much love my friends, and of course, my humans.

Caps, me, Spirit, Az, Ralph, Chew, Suzie Q and I'm pretty sure, Buzz-the-Bl**dy-Bull, Fenny and Flash, I haven't seen them for a while.

Our friend the Vet, Cara came to see us today and gave Mary the check over.  Not feasible to do x-rays as you can't do it without putting Mary under, it's a mammoth job because of a horses size and you can only do it in one place about 2 hours away and well, it's just not feasible so, we're doing it the old fashioned way.  By hand.  Bloods also taken so we'll know about that in the next few days, possibly a week and nothing came up around her physical body that we weren't already aware of.

I'm excited now because for the next 3 months, it is just Mary and I.  I mean, it's not just us as she is paddocked at my stables so we have professional back up at our finger tips, with all the joy of the gear and fun stuff that a professional stables has, but it is just us.

No one else touches her now.  I will feed her, massage her, Miri-Miri her and get her in top physical condition.  With her wilingness.

3 months from today, Cara, will come back and re-assess her, and at that point we will make the decision as to whether to try her racing again or whether she is to be put to stud.

Whatever decision happens, it is a truly exciting time.

Mary is now on Instagram.

** Just got a call from Cara, Mary's bloods are back: she's getting over a virus and with the injury we know about, little bits of the injury are in the blood.  Rest, rest, more rest and recuperation, massages and heaps of love is what is needed.

*** Suzie and I have just spent 1 hour 17 minutes talking about whether she was going to come and have a hot shower, then put on her new jacket.

It was a no.

**** And my butt hurts.

Let me tell you why...Mary is lucky enough to live at professional stables, which have their own race track (whoooooo!) and it is a really great place.  However, Mary in the past has been with me, seen the horses whizz round and decided that she too would like to do that.  Scared me half to death.  Anyway, since that time I absolutely refuse to lead her over the track when people are on it.  So, if you have a sense of humour, I have to wait until the horses come in, rush and get a lead, cross the track, hoof it up this little hill, turn right, down the end to the paddock, get the lead on and then take Mary back the way I came, before everyone has changed horses and gets back on the track again.  You have to motor to time it right.

On a positive note, my butt will eventually thank me.

Just not today.

***** Mary moved paddocks today.  She can still see the track, she had lots of friends near by and we've by-passed any hills.

My butt thanks you.

****** Mary does this weird tongue thing and everytime I see it, it nudges a soul memory.  I know it's important in some way, but it's just out of my conscious reach.
