30 Sec's on....

So I have tried two new products this week, both are at-first-glance fantastic and tick all the major boxes for me:

1) All natural and

2) They taste amazing.

The first one is exactly what it says it is, Organic Blackcurrants ground into a powder.

This is a literal super food for me, and first thing in the morning, 'cause I'm not a breakfast girl, I put a sachet into my blender with boiling water, whizz and drink.

Which is how I came to the next product, Fibre Syrup.

Because I have to have sweet in my mornings, and I found the blackcurrants were just a bit too tart for me.

So I tried this syrup and OMFG it is amazing.

I get all the sweetness I need, technically without the sugar.

So, first off, What the fuck is a Fibre Syrup?

Excellent question, 99!

And this, right here, is where you need to get your smart girl pants on.

Because the difference in Fibre Syrups does my head in.

Nothing Naughty brand is 100% made from tapioca - with no nasty chemicals or preservatives, colours or numbers, but lots of pre-biotics and dietary fibre.

Another brand, thou shalt not be named, ingredients are:

Soluble corn fiber, Sweetener: sorbitol, Sweetener: steviol glycosides, salt.

Which is just a whole hog-tied load of bullshite.  There ain't nothing healthy in that, baby.

But this here is where I start having issues.

What makes tapioca or tapioca by-products, any better, or safer, than sugar?

And when I go into finding what the pre-biotics are, I can't find a thing.  Nor can I find what constitues "natural flavourings of caramel, chocolate and maple", nor is the tapioca broken down into how we get the sugar.

In fact, there's a whole lot of nothing when you really look into it.

Apart from it is a great substitute for sugar.

Which, to be fair, is excellent.

But I want to know what is in it, because I can promise you that it is not just tapicoa.

I know that sugar is the Big-Ass-Bad-Daddy-Monster right now that is the cause of all evil, but how true is that really?

How come our Grandparents and Great-Grandparents had sugar and didn't have a 1/4 of the issues we do?

Doesn't that say that maybe sugar isn't the culprit here?

Anyway, Fibre Syrup tastes great (the natural one has no flavour but chocolate, caramel and maple do) and if you are of the anti-sugar brigade then give it a go.

But think about this:

All living things put on this Earth are to do one, particular, specialized job.
