30 Sec's on....
Do you remember me talking about, The Voynich Manuscript?
Brief recap:
A 234-page handwritten document, filled with enciphered text in an unknown alphabet, threaded through by a large number of drawings of equally uncertain meaning – unrecognizable plants, circular diagrams and small naked women.
Believed to be written in 1608, but more likely, 1450.
The numbers inside look like a cross of Roman and Arabic.
Most of the pages are illustrated but...the entire text of the Voynich Manuscript is written in a language that is not found in any other surviving document.
Well, I bought a copy and it turned up at home last week, and this is what it looks like...
The herbal or botanical section, with drawings of herbs;
The biological section, which contains some possibly anatomical drawings with small human (mostly feminine) figures populating systems of tubes transporting liquids;
The pharmaceutical section, so called because it has drawings of containers, next to which various small parts of herbs (leaves, roots) have been aligned;
The astronomical section, with illustrations of Sun, Moon, Stars and Zodiac symbols;
The cosmological section, with mostly circular drawings;
The recipes section, which contains over 300 short paragraphs, each accompanied by the drawing of a star in the margin.
And the very last page...
Just like you and I, he (or fingers crossed, She) made themselves a footnote.
Love...Love...Love
Kissy hugs.
