Horse Sense....

So I love Full Moons.

Partly because I am a Cancerian girl, but a lot of it is because I love the mischief, chaos, and the utter reckless abandonment Full Moon Energy brings.

It feels like home.

But all jokes aside, normally I warn clients about this time, and as I am writing this, I actually had this exact conversation today earlier.

Which just answers that question, Do you take your own advice?

So knowing how disrupting this Energy is, wait, I have to go back even further:  The Standbred Industry is going through some major changes right now.

Ones which will change the direction it goes, directly impacting the Trainers in the North Island, trickling down to the Drivers and naturally, the Breeders.

So there I was lying in the Sun this afternoon, trying to also have a nap, and Nana came in, Write the email.  I tried to ignore her as I normally do when I don't like what she says.

But she wasn't going anywhere.

Then Mumma bear started over the fence, You said you would speak for me.

I then tried to ignore both of them, which worked as well as you would expect.

In the end, I fed out, had a shower and just before I went out, I opened my laptop and started writing.

This was in response to me getting another email about how bad the Standardbred breeding statistics were.

Only 46% of fillys bred to race actually get to the track, and it is 56% for the colts/geldings.  No matter who you are or which way you look at this, those are bad.

So I wrote about the jigsaw, that you can't just pay and pray, that you have to do the physiology, psychology, physicality and emotional intelligence. Food, soy - and how it mimics estrogen, which is an absolute disaster when that is going directly to the foals in utereus, massaging the broods when pregnant, herbs, good quality feeds, how the Studs need to be more transparent and well, you can't complain about results when you directly created them.

Then sent the email to 10 different people in the Standardbred industry, directly in the Harness Association (I always like to have multiple people read emails, it makes it harder to ignore).

I don't expect an answer, but I am glad I wrote it.

I said I would talk for the horses, and I did.  They deserve, from the moment, actually before conception, to be treated as if they are carrying a Group One Winner.

You can't just pay and pray and then leave them all alone for the next 11 months, 11 days, 11 hours and then expect to get a Group One Winner foal.

That's just dumb.

And if I don't speak out, who will.  Obviously no one else, because no one else has.

I love this Industry - the Trainers and the Drivers, the chaos and mayhem and vibrancy, but most of all, I love the horses.

I found out why my chickens aren't laying.

It is too hot...and moulting season.

That's apart from when it is too cold, rainy, windy or they just don't feel like it.

Anyhou, 3 new big chickens - Marmite the second, Gracie, Raz and our two little bantam ones (but fully grown), Mork and Mindy.

****

Lost Mindy within 6  hours.

Not dead, killed, mauled or otherwise...just gone, vamooshed, vanished, poof!

In the NZ Herald today there is a new survey being done to see why NZ'ers are Vaccine hesitant.

Bwahahahahahaha...Seriously?

The exponential amount of heart attacks, strokes, turbo cancers, anaphalysis shocks, strokes-not-strokes (of our young girls who just wake up and have stroke symptoms - slurring their words, exponential tiredness so they can't do anything, mobility issues etc), epilepsy-not epiilepsy turns (especially in teenagers and when there is absolutely NO history on either side of the family), a cold that goes straight to pneumonia, not to mention early onset dementia...if you were on this side of the computer and seeing the results that weren't hitting the papers and media, you would never have a vaccine, for anything, ever again.

But I'm not going to say I told you so, because you can't go back and do this over.

What I will say though, is that it is absolutely heartbreaking to watch our young ones take Anaphalysis shocks and/or strokes-not-strokes with no warning whatsoever, and hear the Doctors tell them that, They don't know what caused it, don't know why it happened now, and don't know how to fix it.

And in the same NZ Herald, Trump promises to exact revenge if he gets in:

Trump says his victory will be Liberation Day for Americans.

Oh For Fucks Sake, I'm going back to bed.

** To the guy who was sexually assaulted by a well-known Standardbred Horse Trainer, and won their courtcase, Congratulations.

I know no-one believed you at first because of his professional reputation...until the other males came forward, too.

So that's been our week:

In the NZ Herald today it states, "Fights breaking out" as "Organised Beggars" make more than $400 a day.

Bwahahahahahaha...pull the other one, I've physically watched one of our local ones rake in $400 in less than 30 minutes.

If you can actually get past the "Begging" bit, it is a highly lucrative scam.

Well, well, well eh?

Just been to Day 1 of Karaka Yearling Sales.

The Energy was so different from previous years, quite phenomenal actually.

But nothing too different to what I was expecting, and as per usual, it was highly interesting.

Got to say Nana and I used to agree on most things, apart from two.

Honestly, as Spirit are my witness, I am not wrong on this.

****

Day 2 of Karaka - the actual selling/buying part.

That was super interesting.

The highest horse went for $270,000 but a lot were being passed in.  That means that the reserve was not met.

Some sold for $7500 which to be fair, doesn't even come close to covering costs of: stud fee, vet for insemination, during and after birth to check over foal etc (saying that nothing else has gone wrong), food, worming, farrier etc...so it was a real eye opener.

The horses I was looking at this time round ended up going for between $105,000 to $170,000.

I did not buy.

I've got some big decisions to make in the coming months.

Mumma is an awesome brood and to start a new bloodline I've decided I want to put her to an older, well-established stallion at $25,000 stud fee.

Moving forward will be based on a couple of things though - one completely out of my control, one I can possibly negotiate, plus the obvious one of both Belles and Boo running and winning.

Belles and Boo are really important because the jigsaw was done twice here, on two completely different stallions and technically, by everyone elses standards, shouldn't have worked even once.

Once they'll say was luck.

Twice they'll say was luck...

****

And bloody Marmite up and died on me.

In perfect condition, not one feather out of place.

Climbed into a bush, curled up...and died.

I'm telling you, this always happens (chickies die) when the Energy is this high.

****

Honestly, I am in exactly the right place-right time kind of Energy at the moment.

With a huge dollop of luck.

Literally by a whisker, but you know, a win's a win.
