Horse Sense....

So we've been working on boundaries here.

My one was quite easy...I just turn my phone off at night when I go to bed.  You can text me all you want, and call me as early as you wish.

However, I will not reply until I am up, bed's made (I know, anal) and I've had my breakfast chocolate smoothie, checked texts, emails, Whatsapp, Instagram messages and the NZ Herald.

Then we can chat.

But Az and I needed to re-affirm our boundaries.

He's normally really good, but twice now, I have caught him in the shed snacking on food which he shouldn't be eating.

The first time I put the halter on and put him back in the paddock if you remember.

But this is twice since.

Next time, I put the halter on and put him back in the paddock, and he wasn't allowed out the next day.

But next day, today, he bloody did it again.

Again, I put the halter on, and put him back in the paddock.  My horses don't get smacked and to be fair, he was just eating what he shouldn't.  Not completely anihilating the place.

But boundaries are boundaries for a reason, so halter back on, back in paddock.

And then he cried and cried and cried, because the little ones were still out.

He was complaining as to why he was in the paddock and I swear, hand on hoof, I heard Chew go, 'cause you got caught.

Anyway, I left him there for an hour, then let him back out again.  Explained again, why he had been put in the paddock, and if he did it again, he would be put back again.

Not only was he the best behaved Az in the Universe, but when I called, Dinner! they all (4) trotted in and stood in front of their feed bins.

Let's see how tomorrow goes.

Bloody Mikey (the 500kg cow) now in paddock with mini's and Az, so that's put a stop to everything temporarily re shed, but has given us time to just hang out and be.

Touching and grooming and stuff, which has been it's own kind of magick.

And I'm working deeply with Spirit at the moment, so I don't really feel much like talking this week.

So let me leave you with the coolest thing I have heard about the horses to date:

Horses sync their heartbeat into the rhythm of the herd.

Love.  Love.  Love.
