Horse Sense....

Was at Cambridge races last night - it was freaking cool!

I love being with the horses down at the stables, and the Energy is just so lovely in Cambridge.  I didn't freeze half to death, although to be fair, I refused to get out of the car until I had my furry, padded hooded parker all zipped up.  But it wasn't that cold anyway.

And the horses were adorable.  Everyone was particularly well behaved and did exceptionally well.

But you know, you will never convince me that horses don't know what they're doing.

I see them do stuff and I'm like, Really? and I swear, hand on heart, they just look at me and wink.

Anyway, everyone was really friendly and the hamburgers are awesomely great although to be fair, I've normally missed lunch and am starving by the time I get there.

Awesome night.

Mares has a bit of a swollen knee.  No biggie, just a little larger than normal.  So, we had a brush and a groom and then I put anti-flam on.  She's so cute.  She just stands there nuzzling me while I'm putting the flam on.

Then I went and saw my outside horse.  He's doing so well.  This is always the dodgy part though, when a horse is outwardly improving, because I always want to rush when things are going well, but in reality I need to stop and sit in the Silence, and walk with my horse.

And if I'm being honest, I still battle with that.  I'm getting better but...

Anyway, we're all good as I'm writing this.

The horse is talking, I'm listening, and we are walking in peace with Spirit.

You know I always sound really airy-fairy when I talk like this though, but I'm trying to take you into my world and this is the only way I can do it.  To speak how the colours feel to me.

But it's more than that.

It's playing and touching and whispering, without limitations or boundaries.  Without trying to "win" or "make things happen".  But it's also not "guessing" or "hoping for the best".  I do not "hope for the best".  I listen to the horse and watch the Energy, tweak the herbs we are using and either change them, the dosage, or how he or she takes them, then listen again and this keeps happening until we have a beautiful end result.

But we do not rush nor are there any discussions, conversations or majority rules thinking.

There is just the horse, the Energy and the Stillness.

And I've been watching my family a lot, mostly because the weather is giving me time to and because of this, I'm seeing how fabulously connected the horse hierachy is.  How complex and intricate, disciplined and highly organised it is.  How everyone has their place and a particular job to do.

Caps is The Boss, no doubt about it.  Even when he has an abscess and is not moving so quick, he is still The Boss and the other horses respect that.  Az is the Foot Soldier.  I thought at first that he was the Errand Boy but that's not true.  An Errand Boy signifies someone who is lower in the pecking order and not so well respected, but that's not Az.  Az is a fully functioning and respected member of the herd.  The jobs he does for Caps, like coming up to see where I am, picking locks on the gate for Caps so Caps can move himself and his herd into new paddocks etc, that's what he's good at.

But back to Caps, Caps disciplines one on one when needed and teaches human manners.  New things as well, if needed. I would use Caps if I wanted to teach a new horse something.  Caps would come in, I would tell Caps what I wanted, Caps would do it, show the other horse the correct way and then go and munch on grass.

Chew is the Thinker and the Peace Maker.  Ralph is the Good Looking One.  This is a thing.  And he's good at it.  Ralph is soft and lovely and doesn't have a mean bone in his body.  He would cuddle you to death.

Suzie Q is the Mother and disciplines in a hierachy way.  She teaches herd manners.

I'm fascinated.

So, that's been our week:  There's been both outward success and inward success, but mostly just lots of horses and Spirit which if you ask me, is quite perfect.

Wishing you much love my friends, and of course, my humans.

Caps, me, Spirit, Az, Ralph, Chew, Suzie Q, Buzz-the-Bl**dy-Bull, Fenny (the cutest cow-ette in the world) and Flash (a close second)

Mares knee was better today.

** I'm now allowed to wash horses from the knee down to the hoof which I'm super happy about, by next Christmas I may actually be able to wash a full horse, but all jokes aside, it's a huge amount of fun.

And I didn't realize my name had so many meanings:  Tania means anything from...Come here, we're going to bring some horses in, come, we're going to take some out, time to feed out, brush the mane and tails, sweep up, Don't touch that horse, coffee time and anything and everything, in between.

Spirit have a wicked sense of humour some days.
