Horse Sense....

I've just realized that Mares and I haven't been hanging out and having fun like we used to.

I mean, we hang out, and she sees a lot of me but with the mud, rain, more rain, oodles of mud and lots of clients, yes, Mares has seen me more but we haven't done the things that we used to do.  We haven't just hung out, brushed and talked sh*te.

I kind of left her alone to heal, which she has done and continues to do and then she improved her condition and got busy with her Energy.

But we always used to groom, hang out and have grass.  Always.

I will restart this tomorrow.

And on a that was a blonde moment I was dodging a thunderstorm tonight at second feed, went into Mares paddock and didn't shut the gate behind me.  We were at her feed bucket and then I saw a black flash out of the corner of my eyes.  The bl**dy cows had followed me down and one little boss had walked in behind me into Mares paddock, and his mate had followed!  With the other 20 standing at the gate trying to find their brave.  Some niffy foot work was needed here because Mares does not like cows.

Disaster averted, Mares happy, cows p*ssed off and a note to myself that I need to be more careful.

****

I swear, hand on heart, I got 20 million electric shocks today.  I bl**dy hate winter because this happens all the time, fences, gates and wooden posts, drives me bl**dy nuts.  However, summer isn't much better, I start electric shocking from people as well and trust me, that one is uber hard to explain away.

And I groomed Mares in the paddock like I used to today.  She saw the bag, heard me rattle it and came galloping over and slid stop next to me.  Guess she'd missed it, too.

Got super smart with the cows today and didn't freak out when I turned around and there were 30 cows standing behind me.  Little creeped out but not, you know, like seriously.

Go me!

Briefly was at the races Friday.  A girlfriends horse was in the first race so we got glammed up, drove in, I went down and saw said horse at the stables, took a photo then went back up and we had a drink, watched race and then we came home.  Had the coolest time and we shared the best stories.

****

So, Spirit gave me a slap today and it goes like this...

As you and I have talked about, I got a bit weird about bringing Mares up by myself because she's getting really frisky and race horse like, but I am in the process of correcting this, and while I am Mr B is helping me out.  Go me.  But then I decided that I also wanted to be more hands on when we go to Alex Park and wash horses and unstrap etc after they have finished their race and are all hot and sweaty and excited.  Spirit saw where I was going with this and went, Oh no you don't, Missy.  You will do the proper groundwork before you move to the next level, and you just haven't done it.

And then they proved it.

So, there we are at the trials this morning (ONLY professional horse people around, in case you're interested) so after the horses had raced (and were hot, sweaty and excited) A showed me how to wash horse number 1, then Mr B brought horse number 2 down.  I then decided that it was easy as and I could wash.  Mr B tied up the horse, I took the hose, turned it on and promptly squirted the horse in his ear, he pulled back, broke the lead, did a little jump and then galloped off down past everybody's elses horses yippee ki-ay-ing, stopping only at where ours were, to try and pick up his mate so they could both gallop round together.

Not my finest moment.

But wait, Spirit still hadn't finished.

I then was shown how to undo buckles.  Easy right?  Found out I had unbuckled those that shouldn't have been unbuckled and left the ones that should have been unbuckled, done up tight.

Right over there...that's my ego, just pick it up, give it a dust off and hand it back to me at your convenience, please.

On a positive note though: I went and saw Mary afterwards and she was very emotionative.  I'm happy with how we are going but might tweak her herbs again.  And after Mary I went and saw another horse at one of my other stables, it's always good to talk to a new horse and I'm expecting excellent results from him.  The next few days should be interesting.

And on another positive: got home and had a chat to Caps and he was like, It's ok, we love you.  Come and have a snuggle.

Looking back on the day, it has been hugely powerful and empowering on many levels and I learnt a lot.  To be fair, not in the way I wished but...

****

So, that's been our week: I can't say that it has been hugely in your face successful but I also can't say that it hasn't.

Take what you need, leave the rest.

Wishing you much love my friend and of course, my humans.

Caps, me, Spirit, Az, Ralph, Chew, Suzie Q, Buzz-the-Bl**dy-Buzz, Fenny (who's the cutest cowette in the world) and Flash (who comes a close second).  No bl**dy mouse or rat to be seen.  They most probably drowned.

Ran into my Special Needs Brain Trauma group today in town and it was super funny.  I was apologising that I hadn't been because it is too wet and muddy for the mini's and I can't keep them clean.  No worries, said one of my peeps, Just give us your address and we'll come over and wash them for you.

** Suzie Q is letting me touch under her tummy.  I know!  She reminds me of Caps though who used to say to me, Touching me is a privilege, not your right, Tania.

Correct.

*** How annoying is this?  I'm down at my herb place to get the new herb I want to try with Mares this morning, I walk past this other herb and go, Oooooh...and actually reach out my hand to take it.  Realize that it is not the herb I came for and put the herb back.  I then picked up the herb I originally came in for, took to counter, paid and left.

Wrong decision.

Put it in Mares feed this morning (way, way too much in case you're interested), Mares took one look at it, looked at me and decided no how, no way was she eating it and delicately ate around everything else leaving, I swear hand on heart, every single bit of this herb.

Back to herb place tomorrow to get what I should have bought today.

And in Herb Training 101 only ever use one herb at a time for this one reason...if you use two herbs at once you don't know which herb is actually working.  That's why you use one herb, then three days later, add another.  That way you see not only whether it works but also how.

And when you use a herb, hit hard for the first day and a half to jolt the system into working.  So, it should be double dosage morning, night then morning feed again and then drop the herb right back.  You are teaching the horse to heal itself not doing all the work.

Oh, almost forgot.  Don't be afraid to change herbs.  If you don't see a positive improvement within 24 hours, or it's positive but not fixing what you originally wanted then change it.  Your horse will start talking more to you the exact moment he or she knows that you are doing your best.  Your horse will help you heal them.  So, even if you temporarily get it wrong, you're getting it right.

You're welcome.

**** And last but not least, Fenny (the cutest cowette in the world) won't let me stroke her fur while she eats, which personally I think is a bit mean.  However, it drives her nuts and her ears are flapping all round the place.  I tried Flash but she's not keen on me touching her either.

But guess what?  That bl**dy bull, Buzz, is like, Hey Tania, come have a scratch... and literally puts his head down so I can stroke between his horns.

It's an odd life, baby.

***** Ok, we've got success and not so much success.  Let's start with the success part first.  I can touch Mares tummy.  You have no idea how happy I am, we've worked really hard for this, lots of changes of feed, herbs, dosages etc and lots and lots of time.  So, I am extremely happy.  Unfortunately, this success has come with some not so much success.  Mares is a race horse.  What happens when a horse starts getting healthy and doesn't do any exercise?

Correct.

She's full of Energy, not 100% fixed but you know, full of Energy.  In fact, so much so that Mr B brings her up for me while she tries to stand on top of him, bowl him over, run up and down and play with other horses while doing a little jump, skip and baby rear.

I'm trying very, very hard to just focus on the success part...
